Your Firm + Dark Horse = Better Together

How much time do you spend directly serving clients and developing your team? How much time do you spend building the wheel? We understand that small firms and solo practitioners have limited time, energy, and resources to build a firm and deliver on client service simultaneously. We know this because we've lived it. We built Dark Horse to provide firm runners with turn-key infrastructure and an elite community of CPAs who learn and grow their practices together. Rediscover your love for accounting and build a better life by merging your firm into Dark Horse.

Pain Points

Firm runners face many formidable challenges in building their business, handling compliance work, and creating space for high-value advisory services.

Commanding premium prices to be able to deliver premium services.
Creating & maintaining a tech stack that supports defined workflows and processes.
Procuring subject matter experts for client situations you've not encountered.
Creating repeatable processes to consistently deliver value in advisory services.
Recruiting & retaining high-level talent and creating growth paths.
Staying on top of changes in the regulatory landscape and applying corresponding tax strategies.
Documenting processes to scale quality and consistency.
Handling all of the compliance, HR, and administrative tasks for the firm itself.

Dark Horse is a platform.

It's a platform for you to succeed. It brings together everything you need to operate a profitable, sustainable, and future-ready practice. Whether it's the technology we develop, deploy, and maintain, the branding and marketing that attracts the right clients and talent, the administration we remove from your plate, the expertise we bring together, or any of the other ways we support accountants, there's a host of reasons for firms to join Dark Horse. We invite you to find your reasons by booking a discovery call. Merging your firm into Dark Horse doesn't happen overnight so there's no better time to start the convo than now.

Transition Breakdown

Transition breakdown.

Everyone's business and client base are unique. Our transition plan is customized to each incoming Principal. In general, it starts with outlining client scope and type, crafting communication, rolling up software licenses, and promoting the new addition in our public platforms. It is a 4-6 week process with dedicated support from key executives during the entire transition.

Consistent (but not overwhelming) communication is critical to the transition. We recommend sending 3 emails during the process. The first announces the changes, answers some FAQs and describes next steps. The second has the Dark Horse engagement letter and education on any software changes (ShareFile, etc.) they would need to know about. The third is a thank you and welcome to the Dark Horse family.
Determining where the primary support needs are in relation to the types of clients being moved over. Allocating certain deliverables and workload to key individuals as well as identifying additional hires/support needs.

Based on the types of engagements identified above, we send specific engagement letters with the client and DH, which would be sent in the second communication.
Begin the announcement on LinkedIn, and any public facing sites that showcase you professionally.
Update the Dark Horse Website and submit a Press Release sharing about your transition to Dark Horse and welcoming you to the family.
